
James is one of the founders of Stance, a boutique consultancy that focuses on helping organisations to understand how they can make themselves better at what they do. Prior to founding Stance, James was a civil servant in the Government Digital Service, in charge of the Public Services Network and developed the strategy for the UK’s Crown Hosting Service. James spent 15 years as a technologist and entrepreneur before joining government at companies like Joyent, Canon Europe & Fotango. He worked on javascript & Node.js before it became well known, holds multiple patents for cloud computing, and mentored startups at the Canadian startup incubator, FounderFuel. He talked to Australia’s Digital Transformation Office, and the United States Digital Service at their inception, and speaks regularly about technology issues that affect everybody. In 2008, he contributed to the book “Collective Intelligence: Creating a Prosperous World at Peace”.
