Lisnen

Eyra Abraham’s mission is to share insights on how technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), can positively impact people living with a disability. She is the founder of a startup called Lisnen, an AI-led app that brings alerting devices and sound awareness technologies into the 21st century for the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Before founding Lisnen, Eyra Abraham worked in the public sector. Internationally working for the London School of Economics and the British Council, and in Canada, she supported the City of Toronto, Government of Ontario, and Town of Shelburne (NS) on various initiatives to serve the public.

She is a member of the technical committee for plain language with Accessibility Standards Canada and steering committee member for Start Access, an initiative on AI & equity with the American Association of People with Disabilities. Her impact has garnered attention for her work, winning Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch 2019. Eyra holds an MS from Bournemouth University and BS from McGill University.
